DAY 2: Do a Public Good Deed!

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” - Matthew 5:13-16

Today is a HIGHLY INTERACTIVE day of DOING the Word!

Today, you are going to GO somewhere where people are! It could be a grocery store, shopping mall or even a busy street corner. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to DO GOOD DEEDS!

For those of you needing examples, you could:
  • Give a CRAZY GOOD TIP (50-100% of your bill) to a waitress
  • Find a busy Mom w/Kids or grandma at a grocery store and buy/help her with groceries
  • Feed a homeless person and buy them a meal
  • Pray for someone who is sick
If you are still struggling with ideas of good deeds you can do, there are LOTS of examples on the internet here, here or here. (I think you get the idea.)

Get as many as you can in while it’s today. Do what you can, when you can, but before day’s end... DO SOMETHING! Bonus points if it’s in public for many to see.

Post here in the comments section when you have completed your GOOD DEEDS!

Have fun!

  1. I had to force myself out of the house in the cold but it was so worth it. I met a lady from my home town in Dayton ohio and I hope I blessed her as much as I was blessed. At waffle house of all places.

  2. Today, we had a great opportunity to be a blessing to seven people at Starbucks. One of the people actually told us she was looking for coins and extra money in her car to find enough for coffee. A dad and his daughter were also so blessed by the act of kindness and the look on the daughter's face was priceless.

We had a blast doing it because the lady at the cash register was pleasantly surprised and our children enjoyed every bit of this random act of kindness.

    God is good!

  3. Our family just had the most AMAZING experience as we were out to DO the "DO"-votional today. Long story short: a guy got RADICALLY saved because my kids bought him a $.99 ice cream cone!!

  4. Just started this because I didn't know we had started! What a shame, I should pay better attention. Better yet, to parrot Ryan, why haven't I been doing this all along? Any who, my good deed yesterday was to mow my neighbors lawn along with my own. Its a small thing but a start.
